Sirloin steak is a flavourful cut of beef that can be cooked using a variety of methods, including grilling, pan-frying, griddling, or barbecuing. Its a primal cut of beef that comes from the middle to rear of the cow with lean with larger fibers, and known for its tenderness. It has a notable "beefy" taste that pairs well with strong sauces or sides.

Cooking Instuctions

As with all steaks remove from the fridge to come to room temperature, this will achieve a more consistent cook through the steak.

Heat a large heavy based pan until it is smoking, a griddle pan is ideal for steaks. Place the steak in the pan and cook using the guidelines below.

Once cooked cover loosely and rest for five minutes before eating.

If you have a meat thermometer, the internal temperature should be 50°C for rare, 60°C for medium and 70°C for well-done

  • RareCook for 1.5 minutes per side
  • Medium rareCook for 2 minutes per side
  • MediumCook for 2.25 minutes per side
  • Well doneCook for 4 minutes per side

Disappointed

Cooked the steaks as I have done for 30 years, to just off rare, we have not had many steaks recently so was looking forward to the. Really disappointing, fat and sinew through the steak, I’ll stick to Scottish beef in the future

Hereford sirloin steak

Not half as good as normal Sirloin steaks, was a bit like brisket but price probably reflected quality
